First Level Reading
Simple…
Approach
simplification as a set list of the most important and focused ideas versus a
bundle of thoughts fused together. Vague heading does not communicate a clear
message to readers off the bat which is very important. Energy in the header
will capture the readers attention so it needs to pack a punch to draw them in.
Unexpected…
The title must
convey clear and exciting content to come within the reading material. Hold
their attention by teasing their curiosity! Curiosity is human nature which as
a content creator you must grasp and hold on tight.
Concrete..
Use descriptive
language rather than general terminology. Create the appeal for the readers
memory through their mental imagery that you paint
with your words. Aim to appeal to all forms of memory so that they will be able
to retain it.
Credible..
Reliability
can only be proven by others which makes it believable, so it is important to ensure
that the information is reliable. “The difference between the smart and wise is
that the wise learns from other mistakes”. Meaning most people don’t want to
waste time so ensure that information offered are backed by studies or you can refer
to credible sources.
Emotional…
Emphasize
on emotional appeal for this is the fastest way to attract and hold readers attention.
People generally care for others, but they will always take interest for
something that appeals to them personally.
Stories…
Chicken
noodle soup stories that have anecdotes, jokes and relate-able stories portrays the
importance of passing on experiences through a easy to remember format . Stories are effective in appealing to people and to
also get the point across in a manner that is easy to understand and to
influence readers.
Second Level Reading
To
capture the readers mind by using clear titles backed with descriptive language
begins the promise of a amazing reading experience. Coupled with credible factual
evidence that has an emotional appeal which drives all the points home is the recipe
to making the ideas “stick”. Beginning from the start to end it emphasized on
the need to be precise meanwhile maintaining the quality of the piece so that
it is still appealing to reader on all levels. Intellectually to an emotional
level they should be covered in a systematic manner to ensure as to not neglect
one for the other. For example, in the New York times writers have a limited amount
of space to convey to the reader all the important information with little room.
Then also creating unique and relatable headers to attract their attention! A
lot of working parts in ensuring that the reader gets the message and retains
it is a major undertaking. The purpose of this assignment was to become
familiar with the different components that must be put into consideration whilst
writing for our audience. The key to this assignment is to be acutely aware of
our current weakness’s so that it can be improved so that quality pieces can be
posted to our blogs to make it of importance so more of our readers will make
it a priority to read along.

Hi Sofa'i,
ReplyDeleteI'm questioning the clarity of your statment"Intellectually to an emotional level they should be covered in a systematic manner to ensure as to not neglect one for the other,". Could you please elaborate further on what you mean?
Thanks,
Greg
Aloha Mr.Walker,
DeleteThat statement was very vague! The point of that statement was that as writers their should be emotional appeal to readers in our writing BUT only if it supported by facts so it has credibility. Though there is emotion incorporated, it should be placed systematically throughout so that it contributes to the piece versus drawing attention away from whatever goal the author has planned for their post.
Thank you (Hope this is sufficient clarification)
When a standard was well met: Your statement had _precision_ when you said “The title must convey clear and exciting content to come within the reading material. Hold their attention by teasing their curiosity! Curiosity is human nature which as a content creator you must grasp and hold on tight.”
